Choose Me

Choose Me is a 1984 American romantic comedy-drama set in Los Angeles, where a handful of lonely night-dwelling characters cross paths at a bar called Eve's. Eve owns the place and keeps her relationships loose, while her roommate Nancy dispenses relationship advice on a radio call-in show as "Dr. Nancy Love," despite having little luck in love herself. Into their orbit comes Mickey, a mysterious and unpredictable drifter whose interest in both women unsettles the arrangement between them. Around this trio circle other restless figures, including Zack and Pearl Antoine and Billy Ace, all working through their own questions about intimacy and acceptance.

Alan Rudolph wrote and directed the film, the first entry in the chronological list of his features that includes Made in Heaven, The Moderns, Mortal Thoughts, Afterglow and Breakfast of Champions. Geneviève Bujold plays Nancy, Keith Carradine plays Mickey, and Lesley Ann Warren plays Eve, with Patrick Bauchau, Rae Dawn Chong and John Larroquette among the credited cast of 26. David Blocker and Carolyn Pfeiffer produced for Tartan Productions and Island Alive, and the film runs 106 minutes.

Released in August 1984, Choose Me took in about 2 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a 6.7 rating from roughly 3,600 votes, and on TMDB a 6.1 from a much smaller sample of 44 votes. A critics' rating of 7.7 from 21 reviews places it noticeably above the audience scores.
