Winter Kills

Nineteen years after the assassination of US President Timothy Kegan, his younger brother Nick has withdrawn from public life. When he learns of a dying man who claims to have fired the fatal shot, Nick begins looking into the case on his own, even as his wealthy, controlling father tries to steer him. The trail he follows is full of conspiracy theories and false leads, and unknown parties appear determined to stop him from reaching the truth.

William Richert wrote and directed the film, which was released in 1979 and runs 97 minutes. Jeff Bridges plays Nick, with John Huston as his father, Pa Kegan, and Anthony Perkins, Eli Wallach, Sterling Hayden and Dorothy Malone among a credited cast of 64. The production, made by Winter Gold Productions, was budgeted at 7 million USD and took about 1 million USD worldwide, a poor return. On IMDb it holds 6.2/10 from 4,300 votes; on TMDB it has 5.7/10 from 69 votes. A critics' rating of 7.3/10 from 25 reviews is noticeably higher than the audience scores.
