Panic

In a Paris suburb, the discovery of a dead woman causes unrest among the local residents. Monsieur Hire, a solitary and eccentric man who is disliked by those around him, becomes a target of suspicion. As he develops an interest in a young woman who has recently moved to town, he finds himself facing the prejudices of his neighbors during the investigation into the crime.

Directed by Julien Duvivier, this 1947 crime drama follows his earlier works, Mother Hummingbird and Au Bonheur des Dames. Duvivier also co-wrote the screenplay with Charles Spaak. The film stars Michel Simon as Monsieur Hire and Viviane Romance as Alice, featuring a credited cast of 22 actors including Paul Bernard, Lucas Gridoux, Lita Recio, and Max Dalban. Produced by Pierre O'Connell through Filmsonor, the movie has a runtime of 99 minutes.
