A robbery at a beauty salon goes wrong when it turns out the shop's back room hides an illegal betting operation. The man behind the crime manages to turn suspicion on an innocent truck driver, and as the case against the wrongly accused man builds, a police sergeant handling the investigation begins to doubt the official version and looks into what really happened.
Anthony Mann directed Railroaded!, a 1947 crime drama made for Producers Releasing Corporation. It was the third of the twenty films he directed and followed Desperate, released the same year, with Raw Deal coming next in 1948. John C. Higgins wrote the screenplay, and Charles Reisner produced. The cast is led by John Ireland as Duke Martin, alongside Sheila Ryan, Hugh Beaumont, Jane Randolph, Ed Kelly and Charles D. Brown; twenty-two performers are credited in all.
The film had its release in late September 1947 and runs seventy-two minutes. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.7 out of 10 from 29 votes, a modest but favorable showing for a low-budget noir of its era, suggesting the people who have seen it regard it well enough despite its small audience.
