Who Can Kill a Child?

A British couple, Tom and Evelyn, take a holiday on Almanzora, a small island off Spain's Mediterranean coast. What they expect to be a quiet fishing village turns out to be a place where no adults are anywhere to be seen, and the only residents who greet them are children, watching the visitors and smiling in a way that is hard to read. The tension between the couple's ordinary holiday plans and the unsettling isolation of the island drives the film forward as they try to make sense of what has happened there.

Chicho Ibáñez Serrador directed and wrote the screenplay. The Spanish production was his second feature, arriving seven years after The House That Screamed and followed by El Trapero in 1982 and Blame in 2006. Lewis Fiander and Prunella Ransome play the couple, with supporting turns from Antonio Iranzo, Miguel Narros, Marisa Porcel and Luis Ciges among a credited cast of 23. The film runs 112 minutes and mixes drama, horror and thriller elements.
