Short description
Dr. Lily Houghton enlists the aid of wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff to take her down the Amazon in his dilapidated boat. Together, they search for an ancient tree that holds the power to heal – a discovery that will change the future of medicine.
What's left behind the scenes
- Emily Blunt twice declined to participate in the project due to fatigue after filming "Mary Poppins Returns" and "A Quiet Place Part II". Director Jaume Collet-Serra personally flew to New York, where he met with the actress and explained why he wanted to work specifically with her. He brought with him a video message from Dwayne Johnson, in which he praised the project and also expressed a desire to star alongside her.
- Disney producers had long intended to make a film based on the corresponding theme park attraction – dating back to the release of "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl".
