This is the first film by Takeshi Kitano shot in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio.
After a series of unconventional and commercially unsuccessful projects, Takeshi Kitano took on this film, returning to the genre that brought him the greatest success.
This is Takeshi Kitano's first gangster film in 10 years, following "Brother Yakuza" (2000).
At the producers' suggestion, Takeshi Kitano did not cast any actors who had appeared in his previous projects, with the exception of himself.
The Murase limousine is a Nissan Fuga, the company's flagship model on the Japanese domestic market. Fuga variants are sold in other countries as the Infiniti M.
