At the premiere screening at the 2018 Cannes International Film Festival, the film received a ten-minute standing ovation.
Initially, the film was titled 'On Mars'. The plot was the same, except the protagonist couldn't breathe instead of freezing. However, director Joe Penna then learned that a film called 'The Martian' starring Matt Damon would be released soon. That's when the decision was made to abandon the Mars idea.
The bear in the film is real. It was cheaper to film the animal than to create it with visual effects.
