Miles is a video game developer stuck in a job going nowhere and still hung up on his ex-girlfriend, Nova. His main outlet is provoking strangers online, and one night he picks the wrong target: a violent underground game streamed for paying viewers. The people behind it track him down, break into his home and force him into a fight to the death, with two pistols bolted through his hands. His assigned opponent is Nix, an experienced and heavily armed champion of these matches, and when Nova is taken, Miles has to stop running and face the contest on its own terms.
Jason Lei Howden wrote and directed the film, his second feature after Deathgasm (2015) and preceding Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon (2026). Daniel Radcliffe plays Miles, with Samara Weaving as Nix, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Nova, Ned Dennehy as Riktor, Rhys Darby as Glenjamin and Grant Bowler as Degraves. It runs 98 minutes and was made for about 15 million dollars with backing from companies across several countries, including Germany, Australia and the United States.
Audience response has been moderate and broadly aligned: on IMDb it holds 6.3 out of 10 from roughly 77,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.4 from about 2,650 votes. A critics' rating of 6 out of 10 from 72 reviews places professional assessment close to the audience scores, suggesting a film that lands as a serviceable, energetic genre piece rather than one that divides viewers sharply from reviewers.
