No Time for Nuts is a short animated film centered on Scrat, the hapless saber-toothed squirrel from the Ice Age series. While going about his usual business of burying his cherished acorn, he unearths a time machine frozen in the ice. When he touches it, the device sends his acorn hurtling into another era, and a panicked Scrat follows after it. His attempts to recover the acorn carry him through a series of different historical periods, with each stop bringing fresh complications that push him onward to the next.
The film was released in 2006 and runs seven minutes. It was directed by Chris Renaud and Mike Thurmeier, with Renaud also writing the screenplay and Lori Forte, John C. Donkin and Patrick Worlock producing. For both directors it stands as the first title in their directing careers, ahead of Renaud's later animated features and Thurmeier's Ice Age sequels. Chris Wedge voices Scrat, with additional voices provided by David Crommett, Darin De Paul, Dann Fink, Vanessa Lemonides and Kristin Reeves. It was produced by 20th Century Fox, Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox Animation.
Audience response has been favorable, with the short holding a rating of 7.5 out of 10 on IMDb from around 4,600 votes and 7.4 out of 10 on TMDB from roughly 220 votes.
