The film was shot in British Columbia in English, but it was primarily made with the Brazilian film market in mind. In Latin America, Woody remains a popular character to this day, and a cartoon about him is currently airing on television.
For the first time in two decades, the image of the main character was based on one created in the 1950s. The last time viewers saw him was in the 1972 short film Bye, Bye, Blackboard, but he continued to be considered Woody's official image. It was abandoned in 1997, but returned to in this project.
Timothy Omundson plays Lance Walters. This name is a play on the name of the character's creator, Walter Lantz (1899-1994).
