Sweetheart

Jenn is stranded on a small tropical island after her boat sinks, and she soon understands that she is completely alone there. Her days are taken up with finding food and shelter and holding up against the weather, while a hostile presence that emerges after dark has to be kept at bay.

Sweetheart is an American horror thriller directed by J.D. Dillard, who wrote the screenplay with Alex Hyner and Alex Theurer and produced it with Jason Blum among others. It is the first of the two features Dillard has directed, ahead of Devotion. Kiersey Clemons plays Jenn, with Emory Cohen, Hanna Mangan Lawrence, Benedict Samuel and Andrew Crawford, the last as the creature, in support. The film runs eighty-two minutes.

Released in 2019, the film drew a critics' rating of 7 out of 10 from 40 reviews. Audiences were less enthusiastic: on IMDb it holds 5.8 out of 10 from around 11,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.4 out of 10 from roughly 428 votes.
