Train to Busan

A viral outbreak throws South Korea into a state of emergency, and a high-speed train bound for Busan becomes a refuge for passengers fleeing the infected in Seoul. Among them are a distant father, Seok-woo, and his young daughter Soo-ahn, travelling so the girl can see her mother. The infection spreads through the carriages, turning those aboard into attackers, and the survivors are forced to fight for their lives while the train keeps moving toward a city they hope has stayed safe.

The film is directed by Yeon Sang-ho and written by Park Joo-suk. It appears in Yeon's filmography alongside Seoul Station, released the same year, before Psychokinesis, Peninsula, JUNG_E, The Ugly, Revelations, Colony and Paradise Lost. Gong Yoo plays Seok-woo, with Kim Su-an as Soo-ahn, Jung Yu-mi, Ma Dong-seok, Choi Woo-shik and An So-hee among the main cast; 53 cast members and 52 crew members are credited.

Made for about 9 million dollars, the film earned roughly 97 million dollars worldwide, a strong return on its budget. On IMDb it holds 7.6 out of 10 from over 313,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.7 from a smaller base of more than 8,700. A critics' rating of 7.8 from 129 reviews places it close to both audience scores.
