Following the film's European premiere in London at the annual FrightFest festival on August 26, 2017, the audience gave it a standing ovation. 'Victor Crowley' became the second film in the 18-year history of the film festival to receive such an honor.
Scenes from the bookstore where Kristina exposes her breasts and Linus exposes his genitals were removed from the digital versions of the film. Director Adam Green was extremely displeased with this. These scenes are present in the theatrical version of the film and on physical media (DVD and Blu-Ray).
In all films of the 'Hatchet' franchise (2006, 2010, and 2013), Victor Crowley's voice is a blend of actor and stuntman Kane Hodder and director Adam Green's voices. Sometimes sounds made by sea lions, bears, and lions were also added.
This is the fourth time actor and stuntman Kane Hodder has portrayed Victor Crowley. He also played Jason Voorhees four times in the 'Friday the 13th/Jason' franchise.
