Short description

Aimless young Alexandre juggles his relationships with his girlfriend, Marie, and a casual lover named Veronika. Marie becomes increasingly jealous of Alexandre's fling with Veronika and as the trio continues their unsustainable affair, the emotional stakes get higher, leading to conflict and unhappiness.

The film is based on the story of the relationship between director Jean-Estache (1938-1981) and actress Françoise Lebrun.
Jean Estache insisted that the actors follow the script exactly, not changing a single word in their lines. Before filming began, actor Jean-Pierre Léaud memorized his lines for three months.
