Short description
Quebec, 1956. The impulsive and headstrong Nelly Maloye, a novice private eye, joins the methodical and pragmatic Simon Picard, a research scientist in a dubious quest to prove the existence of the elusive Yeti. The brave-hearted heroes come face-to-face with countless dangers during their trek through the heart of the Himalayas.
What's left behind the scenes
- The character of private detective Nelly Mallow was based on two celebrities: aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart, who disappeared while attempting a solo flight around the world, and actress Katharine Hepburn (12 Oscar nominations, 4 wins), who played strong and bold women in the 1940s and 1950s.
- The creators of the animation added elements of the famous mountaineer George Mallory—the first person to attempt to summit Mount Everest—into the character of Simon Picard.
- A team of animators specifically visited Nepal to recreate the authentic beauty of the Himalayas. The artists also recreated the Old Quebec district of 1956 with meticulous precision, a site designated as a World Heritage treasure by UNESCO.
