The filmmakers did not have the rights to use the song from Ivan Reitman's (1946-2022) comedy “Ghostbusters” (1984) as performed by Ray Parker Jr., so Jack Black’s character performed his own version of the song.
Director and screenwriter Michel Gondry insisted on casting residents of Passaic, New Jersey, in supporting roles, as filming took place there.
