Drop Zone

U.S. Marshal Pete Nessip is escorting a prisoner aboard a commercial flight when the plane is attacked in mid-air. A computer expert being transported to testify is taken from the aircraft by a group of skilled parachutists, and Nessip's brother, also an officer, is killed in the escape. Suspended from duty while the incident is investigated, Nessip refuses to accept the official account and sets out on his own to track down those responsible, a search that leads him into the world of competitive skydiving.

Wesley Snipes plays Nessip, with Gary Busey, Yancy Butler, Michael Jeter, Corin Nemec and Kyle Secor among the cast. John Badham directed the film, the twelfth of the fifteen features listed in his directing career, arriving between Another Stakeout and Nick of Time, from a screenplay by Peter Barsocchini and John Bishop.

Released in December 1994, Drop Zone carried a budget of 45 million dollars and returned 62 million dollars worldwide, a modest result against its cost. Audience responses have been mixed: it holds a rating of 5.6 out of 10 on IMDb from more than twenty-one thousand votes and 5.8 out of 10 on TMDB, while a film critics' rating stands at 4.6 out of 10 from twenty-three reviews, placing the critics below the general audience.
