What's left behind the scenes
- In two instances, Millie Bobby Brown offers working children five pounds sterling for their clothes. In 1880, a typical worker earned 3 shillings and 9 pence per week (that is, 9 pounds and 15 shillings per year). In other words, Enola Holmes is offering the children half a year's salary.
- Millie Bobby Brown and her sister Paige Brown approached Nancy Springer (who participated in the project as a screenwriter) with a proposal to independently film a movie and star in it. When Millie Bobby Brown was filming with Michael Dougherty in the sci-fi action film 'Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters' (2019), Legendary Entertainment offered to finance 'Enola Holmes.' For her work on 'Enola Holmes,' Millie Bobby Brown received $6 million as an actress and another $500,000 as a producer.
- At the beginning of the film, original illustrations by Sidney Paget (1860-1908) are shown, but with the face of the actor playing Sherlock Holmes – Henry Cavill.
- Miss Harrison (played by Fiona Shaw) drives a Benz Patent-Motorwagen, or the 'Benz automobile.' This vehicle was assembled between 1886 and 1893. In 2002, the company released replicas of the first mass-produced model in a limited series of 100 units. It should be assumed that the film features one of these reproductions.
- The main character uses the so-called "Albertus disc" (this is one of the first cipher devices in history, described by the Italian Renaissance scholar Leon Battista Alberti, 1404-1472).
- At the very beginning of the film, the audience learns that Enola Holmes was born in 1884. The plot unfolds when the main character turns 16, i.e., in 1900, however, the date in the newspaper with a note about the missing marquis again indicates 1884.
