A Vigilante

A Vigilante centres on Sadie, a woman who has survived an abusive marriage and now devotes herself to helping others escape violent homes. Word of her work passes quietly through support groups, where people with nowhere else to turn are given her name. Her methods are harsh and unsanctioned, and she pursues the men who inflict the harm with a determination that unsettles as much as it protects. Running alongside this work is her own private mission: tracking down the husband she once fled, the person she believes she must confront before she can be free of her past. The film moves between these two strands as Sadie's history and her present-day actions increasingly press against each other.

The drama-thriller was directed by Sarah Daggar-Nickson, who also wrote the screenplay, marking her debut feature as director. Olivia Wilde plays Sadie, with Morgan Spector as her husband and supporting turns from Tonye Patano, Judy Marte, Betsy Aidem and C.J. Wilson among a cast of 28. Producers included George Furla, Randall Emmett and Wilde herself. Made in the United Kingdom and the United States, it runs 92 minutes.
