Killing Zoe

Killing Zoe follows Zed, an American safecracker who travels to Paris at the invitation of an old friend, Eric. Eric has assembled a crew to rob a bank that stays open on Bastille Day. Before the job, Zed spends the night with a woman named Zoe, and the two feel an immediate connection. Eric interrupts them and pulls Zed into a drug-fueled night with his accomplices. The robbery goes wrong from the start, leaving the gang trapped inside with hostages and the police gathering outside, while Eric's behavior grows increasingly erratic.

Roger Avary wrote and directed the film, his first feature as director. He went on to direct The Rules of Attraction and Lucky Day. Eric Stoltz plays Zed, Julie Delpy plays Zoe, and Jean-Hugues Anglade plays Eric, with Tai Thai, Bruce Ramsay and Kario Salem in supporting roles. Samuel Hadida produced through Davis Films, with Live Entertainment and PFG Entertainment among the production companies.

Made for about two million dollars, the film has drawn modest numbers on IMDb, where it holds a 6.4 rating from roughly twenty-two thousand votes, and on TMDB, where it sits at 6.2 from a much smaller pool of voters. A critics' rating of 5.4 from twenty-eight reviews places it below both audience scores, suggesting reviewers were less taken with it than viewers.
