What's left behind the scenes
- The film is set in New Orleans in the 1920s. Interracial marriages were prohibited in the state of Louisiana until 1967.
- Storyboard artist Chris Reccardi (1964-2019) passed away from a heart attack even before the film's release. This happened on May 2, 2019. The film is dedicated to his memory.
- Jock is the second animal from Disney's works to have their gender changed from male to female during the filming of a live-action remake of a classic animation. The first was the snake Kaa from "The Jungle Book" (1967).
- Filming took place in Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia.
