Why Don't You Just Die!

A young man named Matvey arrives at a Moscow apartment block with a hammer hidden behind his back, intending to confront Andrey, a police detective and the father of his girlfriend Olya. Andrey has his own plans, and before long a violent struggle breaks out between the two men. Others are drawn into the apartment as well: Andrey's resentful actress daughter and a police officer nursing a grudge, among a wider group of people who each have their own reason to want revenge on him. What begins as a private settling of scores escalates into a bloody, chaotic fight.

Kirill Sokolov wrote and directed the film, which was released in 2018 and runs 94 minutes. It is his first feature as director, followed by They Will Kill You in 2026. Aleksandr Kuznetsov plays Matvey and Vitaliy Khaev plays Andrey Gennadievitch, with Evgeniya Kregzhde as Olya, Mikhail Gorevoy as Yevgenich, Elena Shevchenko as Tasha and Alexandr Domogarov Jr. as Maniac among a credited cast of 23. Sofiko Kiknavelidze produced for White Mirror Film Company.

The film mixes action, comedy, crime, horror and thriller elements. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.8 from around 5,700 votes, and on TMDB 6.6 from 216 votes. A critics' rating of 7.4 from 72 reviews places it somewhat above the audience scores, suggesting a more favourable response from reviewers than from the general viewing public.
