The Wrong Trousers

Wallace, the eccentric inventor, takes in a lodger to help with household costs, renting out the bedroom that belonged to his dog, Gromit. The new tenant is a penguin whose quiet manner soon wins Wallace's favour, leaving Gromit feeling pushed aside in his own home. The penguin shows a strong interest in Wallace's latest creation, a pair of walking techno trousers, and Gromit comes to suspect that their guest is not what he appears to be.

The short film was directed by Nick Park, who wrote it with Bob Baker and produced it with Christopher Moll. It followed Park's A Grand Day Out and came before A Close Shave, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and Vengeance Most Fowl among the films he has directed. Peter Sallis provides the voice of Wallace, while Gromit, as elsewhere in the series, does not speak.

Made in the United Kingdom, the film runs thirty minutes and belongs to the animation, comedy and family genres. On IMDb it holds 8.3 out of 10 from over 56,000 votes, and on TMDB 7.8 out of 10 from around 1,200 votes. A critics' rating of 9.1 out of 10 from 27 reviews places it above both audience scores.
