Kraven the Hunter

Kraven the Hunter follows Sergei Kravinoff, a big-game hunter whose complicated relationship with his cruel father, Nikolai, a Russian crime boss, sets him on a path of vengeance. Raised to see weakness as a failure and to think like a predator, Sergei is badly wounded by a lion during a hunt in Africa and is saved by Calypso, whose potion leaves him with superhuman strength, speed and endurance. He turns those abilities against criminals and poachers rather than toward the animals he once pursued, drawing the attention of dangerous men, among them his half-brother Dmitri and the assassin known as the Foreigner.

The film is directed by J.C. Chandor, the fifth feature in his filmography after Margin Call, All Is Lost, A Most Violent Year and Triple Frontier. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Sergei, with Ariana DeBose as Calypso, Fred Hechinger as Dmitri, Alessandro Nivola, Christopher Abbott and Russell Crowe as Nikolai. It is a Columbia Pictures production with a budget of about 130 million dollars and a worldwide box office of roughly 62 million dollars. On IMDb it holds 5.5 out of 10 from around 80,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.4 from about 2,500 votes. A critics' rating of 4 out of 10 from 160 reviews places it below the audience scores.
