Set in Naples, the film follows Felice Lasco, who returns to the Rione Sanità neighbourhood after four decades abroad, having built a life between the Middle East and Africa. He comes back to care for his dying mother, Teresa, but stays on rather than returning to the life and partner waiting for him elsewhere. In the streets he grew up in, long-buried memories resurface, and he is drawn back towards a childhood friend, Oreste Spasiano, who has since become a figure in the city's criminal underworld. The reunion pushes Felice towards a confrontation with his own past and with the codes of the place he left behind.
Mario Martone directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Ippolita Di Majo. It followed his 2014 film Leopardi in the director's filmography and came before the later features listed from 2025 and 2026. Pierfrancesco Favino plays Felice, with Tommaso Ragno as Oreste, Aurora Quattrocchi as Teresa, Francesco Di Leva as Don Luigi Rega, Sofia Essaïdi as Arlette and Nello Mascia as Raffaele, among a credited cast of 39.
Released in 2022 and running 117 minutes, the Italian-French production took in roughly 3 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.7/10 from around 4,200 votes, and on TMDB 6.8/10 from 299 votes. A critics' rating of 7.2/10 from 27 reviews places it somewhat above the audience scores.
