Cherry
Short description
Cherry, a young man who leaves college without finishing his degree, enlists in the army and serves as a medic in Iraq. The one thing that keeps him steady through his service is his girlfriend Emily, but when he comes home he is dealing with post-traumatic stress and begins using drugs. What follows is a descent into addiction and crime as he tries to work out where he belongs, with Emily still standing by him even as his life comes apart.
Anthony and Joe Russo directed the film, working from a screenplay by Jessica Goldberg and Angela Russo-Otstot. It followed the brothers' run of Marvel films that included Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and it sits between those and their later The Gray Man and The Electric State. Tom Holland, who had appeared in several of those Marvel films as Spider-Man, plays the title role, with Ciara Bravo as Emily and Jack Reynor, Michael Rispoli and Jeffrey Wahlberg among the supporting cast. It was made on a budget of 40 million USD.
The film runs 142 minutes. On TMDB it holds a rating of 7.3 out of 10 from 1,426 votes, indicating a reasonably positive response from users who have logged it.
