We Summon the Darkness

In 1988 Indiana, three young women head to a heavy metal concert while news reports describe a string of ritual killings across the country and a prominent preacher warns about the music's influence on youth. At the show they meet three aspiring musicians and invite them back to a secluded country house for an after party. The night takes a turn that none of them expect.

Marc Meyers directed the film, working from a screenplay by Alan Trezza. It was one of several features Meyers made in 2020, following How He Fell in Love, My Friend Dahmer, All My Life and Human Capital. Alexandra Daddario, who also produced, leads the cast as Alexis, alongside Maddie Hasson as Val, Amy Forsyth as Bev, Keean Johnson as Mark, Logan Miller as Kovacs and Austin Swift as Ivan.

Released in August 2020, the film runs 91 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.2 from around 13,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.4 from roughly 284 votes. A critics' rating of 5.8 from 69 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
