The Fugitive
Short description
Dr. Richard Kimble is a respected Chicago surgeon whose life falls apart when his wife is murdered at their home. He insists a one-armed intruder was responsible, but no one believes him, and he is convicted of the killing and sentenced to death. While being transferred to prison, a crash on the transport bus gives him the chance to get away. Once free, Kimble sets out to track down the real killer and prove his innocence, while U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard leads the nationwide manhunt for him. The film is based on the 1960s American television series of the same name.
Andrew Davis directed, working from a screenplay by Jeb Stuart and David Twohy, with Arnold Kopelson producing. It was Davis's fifth feature, arriving between Under Siege and Chain Reaction. Harrison Ford plays Kimble, Tommy Lee Jones plays Gerard, and the cast includes Joe Pantoliano, Jeroen Krabbé, Daniel Roebuck and L. Scott Caldwell, among 103 credited performers.
Released in August 1993, the film had a budget of 44 million dollars and took 369 million dollars worldwide, a strong return on its cost. On IMDb it holds 8.2 out of 10 from 84 reviews, while on TMDB it has 7.5 out of 10 from 4,961 votes, so critics' assessments run somewhat higher than the audience score.

- In the 8th episode of the 3rd season of the series 'Scrubs,' the main character, J.D., is watching the film 'The Fugitive.' In one scene, he notices actor Neil Flynn in the role of a police officer in the subway (who plays the janitor in the series). J.D. tells the janitor this news, and he admits that he did indeed appear in that film.
