Toto, Peppino, and the Hussy

Antonio and Peppino Caponi live in the countryside near Naples with their sister Lucia, whose son Gianni is studying medicine. While away at his studies, Gianni falls for a variety show performer, and when she moves to Milan, he follows her there. Fearing that he will abandon his education for the relationship, the three Caponi siblings travel to Milan to talk him into returning home and finishing his degree, setting up a clash between the family's rural suspicions and the young couple's plans.

Camillo Mastrocinque directed this 1956 Italian comedy, which was released in August of that year and runs 101 minutes. It was written by Sandro Continenza, Edoardo Anton and Nicola Manzari, and produced by Isidoro Broggi and Renato Libassi for D.D.L. The cast is led by Totò as Antonio and Peppino De Filippo as Peppino, with Dorian Gray, Teddy Reno, Vittoria Crispo and Mario Castellani. Mastrocinque's filmography includes Totò, Peppino e i fuorilegge the same year.

The film has held up well with audiences: on IMDb it holds a 7.7 rating from around 2,300 votes, and on TMDB it stands at 8 out of 10 from a smaller group of just under 400 voters.
