Monkey Man

Monkey Man follows Kid, a young man scraping by in an underground fight club in India. Night after night, he puts on a gorilla mask and takes brutal beatings from better-known fighters for money, hiding years of pent-up anger. He eventually finds a way into the city's wealthy and corrupt circles, and as childhood wounds resurface, he uses his scarred hands to pursue revenge against those who took everything from him. The film draws on the legend of Hanuman, a figure associated with strength and courage.

Dev Patel directed the film and shares screenplay credit with John Collee and Paul Angunawela, while also producing and starring as Kid. The cast includes Sikandar Kher, Makrand Deshpande, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, and Ashwini Kalsekar. The production, a Canadian, American, and Singaporean co-production involving Bron Studios, Thunder Road, Monkeypaw Productions, and Creative Wealth Media Finance, was made for about 10 million USD and earned roughly 35 million USD worldwide.
