Over the Moon follows Fei Fei, a bright and inventive girl who holds tight to the stories her mother told her about a goddess living on the moon. When her father becomes involved with someone new, Fei Fei pours her energy into building a rocket so she can travel to the moon and prove that the legendary figure really exists. The 2020 animated adventure, a co-production between China and the United States, blends family drama with fantasy and a journey beyond Earth.
Glen Keane directed the film, with a screenplay by Audrey Wells and production by Gennie Rim and Peilin Chou. It was made by Janet Yang Productions, Glen Keane Productions and Pearl Studio, and runs 95 minutes. Cathy Ang voices Fei Fei, while Phillipa Soo plays the moon goddess Chang'e. Robert G. Chiu, Ken Jeong, John Cho and Sandra Oh round out the main voice cast, part of a credited cast of 30 and a crew of 48.
On IMDb the film holds 6.3 from around 27,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.2 from about 1,400 votes; a smaller, more enthusiastic group on the latter site rates it higher. Critics gave it 7 out of 10 across 102 reviews, a warmer average than the broader IMDb audience, though the two are not far apart.
