The Magnificent Scoundrels is a crime comedy about two small-time con artists who team up to execute various financial schemes through impersonation. Their efforts to make money and settle debts lead them into a wealthy home, where their plans clash with other swindlers and the interests of local gangsters. The resulting confusion involves mistaken identities and competing plots to steal valuables.
Directed by Lik-Chi Lee, the film was released in 1991 and serves as his second directed feature following Brother’s Girlfriend. Lee also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Yiu-Ming Leung. The movie stars Stephen Chow as Valentino and Teresa Mo as Betsy Kwan, with supporting roles played by Tien Niu, Amy Yip Chi-Mei, Wu Ma, and Roy Cheung. It was produced by Danny Lee Sau-Yin and Wellington Fung Wing through Cinema City Co., Ltd. and Magnum Films Limited.
