Christopher Lee (1922-2015), who played Dracula, and Herbert Lom (1917-2012), who played Van Helsing, never met on set; they filmed all their scenes separately.
It is said that Christopher Lee was already tired of playing Count Dracula, and he only agreed to appear in this film because he was promised a highly accurate adaptation of Bram Stoker's (1849-1912) novel (1897). Be that as it may, the adaptation contains significant deviations from the literary source material, although, according to director Jesus Franco (1930-2013), he and Lee remained friends for many years afterward.
