Deadly Prey

Deadly Prey follows a band of mercenaries who abduct people off the streets and turn them loose near their hidden camp, where recruits hunt them down as live targets. Their latest captive is Michael Danton, a former soldier whose skills in combat have earned him a fearsome reputation. What the hunters do not realize is that the man they chose as prey is far more dangerous than anyone they have trained against, and the exercise turns against them.

The film was directed by David A. Prior, who also wrote the screenplay, and it was produced by Peter Yuval for Action International Pictures. It was released in 1987, arriving between Prior's earlier Sledgehammer and two other features he directed that same year, Killer Workout and White Fury. Ted Prior plays Michael Danton, with David James Campbell as Col. Hogan, Fritz Matthews as Lt. Thornton, Dawn Abraham as Sybil, Troy Donahue as Don Michaelson and Cameron Mitchell as Jamie's Father. Forty cast members are credited.

Made as a low-budget American action picture, the film has drawn a modest following over the years but limited approval from viewers. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5 out of 10 from around 3,800 votes, while on TMDB its rating is 4.9 out of 10 from roughly 120 votes.
