New Order

Set in Mexico City in the near future, New Order follows a lavish upper-class wedding that is thrown into turmoil when a popular uprising breaks out across the city. The celebration is interrupted by guests who were not invited, and the unrest quickly spreads amid class resentment and violence. When the disorder is put down, the family finds that the bride, Marianne, has disappeared, and they turn to the military for help in finding her.

Michel Franco wrote and directed the film, which sits between Chronic and Sundown in his filmography. Naian González Norvind plays Marianne, with Fernando Cuautle, Diego Boneta, Dario Yazbek Bernal, Mónica del Carmen and Eligio Meléndez among the twenty-nine credited cast members. Edgar San Juan, Cristina Velasco and Erendira Nuñez Larios produced the film through Teorema. It runs 88 minutes and was released in October 2020.

On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 6.5 from around 11,000 votes, while on TMDB it has a 6.4 from roughly 388 votes. A critics' rating of 6.7 from 105 reviews places it close to the audience scores. Its worldwide box office came to about 2 million USD.
