Given Christopher Lambert's popularity (who played the protagonist Peter Sanderson) with European audiences, the film was released first in the UK, Asia, and Australia, and only then in the USA.
Unlike the widescreen theatrical version distributed to cinemas, the home video version includes the uncut top and bottom portions of the image.
The European version of the film is approximately 11 minutes longer than the American version, providing more detail about the protagonist's relationship with his deceased wife.
