What's left behind the scenes
- The two main characters are based on real historical figures, revolutionary leaders of the movement for the liberation of India from British rule – Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, but in reality, they never met.
- The abbreviation RRR was not the original title of the film; it represents the first letters of the director's name (Rajamouli) and the names of the two lead actors (Ram and Rao), and that's how the film, still in pre-production, was presented to the public. But fans and distributors liked the name so much that they decided to keep it. A competition was then announced for the best interpretations in different languages, as the film was dubbed into five languages in India alone. For international distribution, RRR was deciphered as Rise Roar Revolt, which can be translated as “Rise, Roar, Revolt”.
- S.S. Rajamouli named Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" as one of the sources of inspiration for the creation of the film.
- The dance scene to the song "Naatu, Naatu" was filmed in 18 takes; the director strived for perfect synchronicity from the lead actors.
- For the role, Alia Bhatt learned Telugu.
- Filming took place from November 11, 2018, to August 26, 2021.
- At the time of production, it was the most expensive Indian film.
