Girl on the Third Floor

Don Koch has moved out of Chicago with his pregnant wife, Liz, to a rundown Victorian house in a small town outside the city. While Liz stays behind in their old apartment, Don lives in the house alone and sets about renovating it himself before the baby arrives. It soon becomes clear that the building has a dark past, and that something within its walls seems to have intentions of its own for its new owner.

Travis Stevens directed and wrote the film, his first feature, and produced it with Nicola Goelzhaeuser and Giles Edwards; his second film as director, A Wounded Fawn, followed in 2022. Phil Brooks, known as the wrestler C.M. Punk, plays Don, with Trieste Kelly Dunn as Liz, alongside Sarah Brooks, Elissa Dowling, Karen Woditsch and Travis Delgado. Stevens also made the film under the Queensbury Pictures banner.

Released in October 2019, the film runs 93 minutes and sits within the horror and thriller genres. Its scores diverge by audience: on IMDb it holds 4.7 out of 10 from around 12,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 5.2 out of 10 from roughly 340 votes. A critics' rating of 6.7 out of 10 from 37 reviews is noticeably higher than either audience figure. The modest vote counts on TMDB, compared with IMDb, suggest a smaller and more niche audience on that platform.
