Children of the Sea

Ruka is a teenage girl whose father works at an aquarium. After meeting two boys named Umi and Sora, who were raised in the ocean by dugongs, she discovers that she shares a supernatural bond with the sea. As strange occurrences increase worldwide, including the disappearance of aquarium animals and marine creatures appearing in unusual locations, Ruka investigates how the special abilities of her new friends are linked to these anomalies.

Directed by Ayumu Watanabe, this 2019 production is the ninth film in his career, following works such as Space Brothers #0 and several Doraemon projects. The voice cast features Mana Ashida, Hiiro Ishibashi, and Seishu Uragami. The film was a joint effort between production companies in Japan, China, and Hong Kong, including STUDIO4℃ and TOHO.
