North West Frontier

Set in India in 1905, during unrest in the northern frontier provinces, the film follows British Army Captain Scott as he tries to get a young prince to safety. With Muslim rebels determined to kill the boy and end British influence in the region, Scott resorts to an ageing locomotive and a single carriage to break through the rebel blockade. He is joined by the prince's American governess, Catherine Wyatt, along with the governor's wife, a British official, a journalist, an arms dealer, two sepoys and a train driver. Their journey across rebel-held territory is dangerous from without, and the passengers themselves may not all be trustworthy.

J. Lee Thompson directed, working from a screenplay by Robin Estridge and Frank S. Nugent, with Marcel Hellman producing for The Rank Organisation. It was Thompson's second film as director, following Ice Cold in Alex and preceding Tiger Bay. Kenneth More plays Captain Scott, Lauren Bacall plays Catherine Wyatt, and Herbert Lom, Wilfrid Hyde-White, I.S. Johar and Ursula Jeans appear among the passengers. The film runs 129 minutes.

The film draws moderate but favourable responses. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7.1 from around 3,400 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.8 from 57 votes. The larger vote count on IMDb gives that rating more weight, suggesting a reasonably settled reputation among viewers rather than a widely seen title.
