The producers hired Jeff Star, a professional locksmith from New Jersey and an eight-time winner of the international safe-cracking championship. He advised the prop department during the creation of the safe mock-up and Gabourey Sidibe before filming the scene where her character cracks the safe.
Three specially hired linguists worked with actress Gabourey Sidibe to develop the accent characteristic of people from Jamaica.
Filming took place in the summer, so artificial snow was used in the scene with Slide on the roof.
The film features over 500 special effects.
The Ferrari Lusso repeatedly shown in the film is actually a converted Volvo 1800.
