What's left behind the scenes
- Sam Worthington, Colin Farrell, Justin Timberlake, and Seth Rogen were considered for the lead roles, but ultimately they went to Chris Pine and Tom Hardy.
- The transformation of the main characters, Franklin and Tak, into real CIA agents was the task of Paul Morris, a military advisor with extensive combat experience, who acted as a technical consultant for the CIA during the filming of the movie.
- Pine's character readily tells the girls that he is the captain of the ship. This is a reference to his role as Captain Kirk in "Star Trek".
- On the Blu-Ray release of the film, there are two alternative endings: alternate ending #1: In the finale, after the car crash, Lauren chooses Tak. Franklin is visited by two flight attendants; alternate ending #2: In the finale, after the car crash, Franklin and Tak end up on the same side, thus showing that Lauren did not stay with either of the heroes.
- When Lauren (Reese Witherspoon) looks at her dating profile, she sees the profile of Tom Hardy's character there, where he is called John Harrison, although his name in the film is Tac.
