The Forever Purge
Short description
The Forever Purge takes place in a Texas border community where Adela and her husband Juan, a ranch hand, work for the wealthy Tucker family. Juan earns the respect of patriarch Caleb Tucker, which stirs resentment in Caleb's son Dylan. After the annual night of sanctioned lawlessness ends, a masked group refuses to stop, attacking the Tuckers and forcing the two families into an uneasy alliance as violence spreads and the country begins to come apart. A route south toward Mexico becomes the focus of the struggle.
The film is directed by Everardo Gout from a screenplay by James DeMonaco, who also produces alongside Michael Bay and Andrew Form. It is the fifth entry in the Purge series. Ana de la Reguera and Tenoch Huerta Mejía lead the cast as Adela and Juan, with Josh Lucas, Leven Rambin, Will Patton and Cassidy Freeman among the credited performers.
Released in mid-2021, the film cost about 18 million dollars and returned roughly 77 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.4 out of 10 from around 48,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.9 from a much smaller body of 2,735 ratings. A critics' rating of 5.4 from 161 reviews places it in line with the IMDb figure rather than the higher TMDB score.
