The Tunnel

Set in the frozen mountains of Norway, this drama and thriller follows a group of travelers heading home for Christmas. When a tanker truck crashes inside a tunnel and catches fire, numerous people become trapped in the dark. A raging blizzard outside prevents emergency responders from reaching the scene quickly, forcing those inside to rely on themselves to survive the escalating disaster. The story specifically focuses on Stein, a road maintenance official, and his strained relationship with his daughter, Elise, who is traveling by bus toward Oslo.

The film was directed by Pål Øie, following his work on Dark Woods and Dark Woods II, and preceding Kraken. Written by Kjersti Helen Rasmussen, the movie stars Thorbjørn Harr, Ylva Fuglerud, Mikkel Bratt Silset, Lisa Carlehed, Ingvild Holthe Bygdnes, and Per Egil Aske. Produced by Nordisk Film Norway and Handmade films in Norwegian Woods, the project earned 3 million USD at the worldwide box office.
