Short description

Batman's world is shaken when his partner Robin, Jason Todd, sets out to find his biological mother and instead crosses paths with the Joker. The confrontation sets the Dark Knight on a collision course with his greatest enemy, and the outcome is left partly in the viewer's hands: at key points the story pauses so that the audience can choose which way events unfold, sending Batman, Robin and the Joker down different paths. The short film adapts the 1988 comic storyline of the same name and follows Jason Todd's fate beyond it, including his later turn as the Red Hood.

Brandon Vietti directed and wrote the film and produced it with Amy McKenna. It is his seventh directorial feature, arriving after Superman: Doomsday, Batman: Under the Red Hood, Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery, LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League and ahead of the two Watchmen chapters. The voice cast is led by Bruce Greenwood as Bruce Wayne and Batman, Vincent Martella as Jason Todd across his several identities, and John DiMaggio as the Joker, with Zehra Fazal, Gary Cole and Kimberly Brooks among the 26 credited performers. The 31-minute production comes from DC Entertainment, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation. On IMDb it holds 5.7/10 from roughly 4,900 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.1/10 from about 492 votes.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The Joker's prisoner number at Arkham is 11940. This is a reference to his first appearance in Batman comic #1 in 1940.
  • Viewers have the opportunity to lead everything to 7 different endings. Three endings are good for Jason Todd, another three are not very good, and in one ending, it will be too much for anyone.
