The Roundup

Ma Seok-do, a Seoul detective known for his imposing size and rough methods, is sent to Vietnam to bring back a suspect who fled Korea years earlier. Shortly after arriving, he and his team learn that other Korean travelers have gone missing or been killed, and that a separate predator has been targeting visitors in the area for a long time. Ignoring instructions from the embassy to leave the matter alone, Ma decides to hunt the killer himself, which puts his mission and his squad at risk.

The Roundup is a Korean action crime film directed by Lee Sang-yong, the first feature he directed and the earlier of the two films credited to him in that role. Kim Min-sung wrote the screenplay, Yoo Young-chae produced, and the cast of 44 includes Ma Dong-seok as Ma Seok-do, Son Suk-ku as Kang Hae-sang, Choi Gwi-hwa as Jeon Il-man, Park Ji-hwan as Jang I-soo, Heo Dong-won as Oh Dong-gyun and Ha Jun as Kang Hong-seok.

Made for about 8 million dollars, the film took roughly 101 million dollars worldwide, a return far beyond its production cost. On IMDb it holds 7 out of 10 from around 15,000 votes, and on TMDB 7.3 out of 10 from about 465 votes. A critics' rating of 7.6 out of 10 from 26 reviews puts professional assessments slightly above the audience scores.
