- Anne Rice's bestselling novel "Interview with the Vampire" was originally written in 1969 as a short story. In 1973, the story was reworked into a novel, and a year and a half later, the "Knopf" publishing house offered the writer $12,000 for its publication.
- Rivers Phoenix was originally planned for the role of the journalist, but he died. Christina Ricci auditioned for the role of Claudia, and Johnny Depp was invited for the role of Lestat.
