Shut In

Jessica is a recovering addict raising two young children on her own in a rundown house in a rural area. The property, left to her by her grandmother, is meant to fund a fresh start once she renovates and sells it, but the arrival of her ex-boyfriend Rob and his volatile friend Sammy upends that plan. What begins as an unwelcome visit turns into a confinement, and Jessica is shut away from her children inside her own home and must find a way out and back to them.

The film is directed by D. J. Caruso, whose earlier work includes Disturbia and Eagle Eye, and it followed Redeeming Love in his filmography, the tenth of the eleven features listed. Melanie Toast wrote the screenplay, and Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk produced. Rainey Qualley plays Jessica, with Vincent Gallo and Jake Horowitz as Sammy and Rob, and Luciana VanDette and Aidan Steimer as her children.
