Titane

After a childhood car accident leaves her with a titanium plate in her skull, Alexia grows into a young woman with a fixation on cars and engines and an aversion to human closeness. Violence follows her, and when a killing spree draws police attention, she alters her appearance and takes on a new, male identity to disappear. She finds shelter with Vincent, a fire brigade commander who becomes convinced this stranger is the son who went missing a decade earlier. The two damaged people form an intense, unlikely bond.

Julia Ducournau wrote and directed the film, her second feature after Raw (2017) and preceding Alpha (2025). Agathe Rousselle plays Alexia in her feature debut, with Vincent Lindon as Vincent and Garance Marillier, Laïs Salameh, Mara Cissé and Marin Judas in supporting roles. Shot in Belgium and France on a budget of about 7 million USD, it is a body horror drama that blends violence with an examination of grief and parenthood.

Reception has been sharply divided by audience. On TMDB it holds a 6.3 rating from 1,748 votes, while critics gave it 7.8 from 253 reviews, a marked gap between professional and viewer responses. The film grossed around 5 million USD worldwide, less than its production budget.
